History

The Department of Architectural Restoration started the recruitment of students in the 2018-2019 academic year.

Qualification Awarded

Students who successfully complete this program are entitled to receive an Associate Degree (Technical Programs) in the field of Architectural Restoration Associate Degree Program.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to the ARCHITECTURAL RESTORATION section according to the results of the Transition to Higher Education Exam conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

There are no prior education arrangements specifically used in the ARCHITECTURAL RESTORATION program. He/She must have completed secondary education.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To complete all courses with a total of 120 ECTS credits in the course plan. 20 business days (5 ECTS credits) to complete industry internship.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

The graduates of the department may be employed in architectural offices, workshops, construction sites and archaeological excavation works, in the departments of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in museums, in the surveys and monuments directorates, in the conservation and restoration central laboratories directorates, in the directorates of KUDEB in the metropolitan municipalities, in the KUDEB directorates in the district municipalities and in the general directorate of foundations. take office in the regional directorates.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates of the department can transfer to the departments of architecture, city and regional planning, interior architecture, traditional handicrafts, tile design and repair, and preservation and repair of cultural assets with DGS.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Two exams, one midterm and one final exam, are administered. The effect of these exams on the final grade is evaluated as 40% and final examination is 60%.

Graduation Requirements

Students are required to take at least one midterm and a final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm final exam (60%) to the final exam is 40%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. In order for the student to graduate, he / she has to complete 120 ECTS course load and the GPA must be at least 2.0.

1	To be able to have information about the basic concepts, theories, methods, techniques and materials specific to the field of architectural restoration.
2	To be able to understand and apply the legislation related to conservation in the field of restoration and conservation.
3	To be able to apply conservation and restoration, technical drawing methods and decoration techniques related to the field.

9	Learns the ancient regions and ancient cities in Anatolia. Learns about the civilizations that established ancient settlements. Gains knowledge about restorations made in ancient cities.
10	Defines the concept and functions of museum and museology. Explain the historical development of museums. Can prepare all kinds of inventory studies in museums. Defines museum and archaeological artifacts. Supervises the museum display and arrangement. Gains knowledge about Conservation Techniques and Restoration in the Museum.
11	Gains knowledge about the aims of conservation, its historical development, the values ​​that need to be protected and the basic principles of its determination, the evolution of the understanding of conservation, the application terminology and methods of conservation and restoration.
12	Gains knowledge about the research methods of archeology, excavation methods and types. Gains the knowledge and skills of drawing and cataloging within the scope of the documentation of artifacts and museums in the presentation of the legislation in the application of archeology.
13	Recognize the historical development of architectural decoration and the understanding of decoration in traditional architecture. Gains knowledge about insert-added decoration elements, examples of decoration created with the proportions of architectural elements.
14	Have basic information about Occupational Health and Safety that can be used effectively in Restoration Projects.
15	Can fully understand the concept of restoration and carry out multidisciplinary studies in restoration.
