History

The Department of Health Management has started training activities for 100 students, 60 of which are in regular education and 40 of which are secondary education, in 2018-2019 academic year. The language of instruction is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students who want to register to the major must succeed all of their exams and complete all of the processes which are determined by ÖSYM with respect to the academic and legal framework of the university. The inter-academic horizontal transfers between the institutions to the degree programs of the university and intra-academic horizontal transfers within the institution to the equivalent degree programs are set in accordance with the terms of "Regulation about the Transfers between Associate and Bachelor’s Degrees and Minors and Double Majors" and the Senate of the university. Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Students who transfer horizontally or vertically are subject to an adaptation (intibak) program. In addition, in line with the decision taken by the university, public academy trainings (Presidency Distance Education Gateway, BTK Academy, TSE Academy, Agriculture and Forestry Academy, KOSGEB LMS, EKAP Academy, ÇASGEM Campus, GSB EDU, Energy Efficiency Trainings, Agriculture and Forestry Academy, etc.) are being integrated into the curriculum.

In order to obtain a bachelor’s degree in the department of Health Management, students in the program need to complete compulsory and elective courses which are 240 ECTS in total, and average GPA must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00. In addition, students must have completed the course ‘SAY480 Professional Practice in Health Management,’ which they will take in the spring semester of the fourth year, in order to graduate.

Profile of The Programme

Department of Health Management aims to educate highly qualified health management professionals for the health sector with education programme. The graduates are expected to have developed a professional identity and personality by all means. They are also expected to be the ones who have self-confidence , knows the World and his/her country well, adopt contemporary and universal values, are curious and willing to learn for more; have the knowledge, ability and the ideal to administer health care institutions, use foreign languages very well; have the spirit of entrepreneurship directed to production; have developed communication and leadership skills necessary for his/her profession.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Graduates of this department take charge in public (Ministry of Health, Universities, Armed Forces Affiliated Hospitals) or private sector (private hospitals, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, insurance companies and other private health institutions). They can take charge in department of account and finance, human resources department, marketing department and patient relations department of healthcare institutions. They also have chance to be employed as a supervisor or specialist at several public institutions notably Ministry of Health and Social Security İnstitution.

Access to Further Studies

Students who successfully complete the program can apply for master’s and doctoral degrees in the field of Health Management or in other disciplines that accept students from this field. In addition, students may apply for the integrated master’s program before completing their undergraduate studies; in this case, they can continue with the master’s courses after graduation, and the courses taken within the integrated program can be considered for exemptions or credit transfer in graduate education.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

((1) Exams are evaluated on a 100-point scale. The results of a course’s midterm and semester/final exams are shown as numerical scores. The score for any exam a student does not attend is zero. (2) The midterm exam average is the weighted average of the scores a student has received in the midterms. The resulting decimal number is rounded up if it is 0.5 or above, and rounded down if it is below 0.5. (3) The course’s raw success score is calculated by taking 50% of the student’s midterm exam scores and 50% of the semester/final exam score. However, for the course SAY480 Professional Practice in Health Institutions, the total contribution of midterm assessments is 60%, consisting of 30% report preparation, 40% midterm exam, and 30% practical application; the contribution of the final exam is 40%. (4) Matters regarding the evaluation of courses conducted via distance education are determined by the Senate. (5) A student’s course success is determined by the instructor based on the overall performance of all students taking the course, the arithmetic average of the student’s raw success score, and statistical distributions. (6) Letter grades and coefficients for success levels are determined in accordance with Yozgat Bozok University Regulation on Education, Training, and Exams (Article 28/6). (7) To pass a course, the success grade must be at least DD or higher. Grades AA, AB, BA, BB, BC, CB, and CC are unconditionally passing. Grades CD, DC, and DD are conditionally passing; a student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 to pass a course with a CD, DC, or DD grade.

Facilities

Educational and academic activities in the department are carried out by 10 faculty members: 1 Professor, 3 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors, and 1 Research Assistant. The faculty has 21 classrooms equipped with projectors and computers, 1 reading room, 72 academic and 12 administrative staff offices, and a conference hall. Courses are conducted in classrooms with capacities suitable for the class size, and all classrooms are equipped with projection systems. The smallest classroom has a capacity of 12 students and a size of 35 m², while the largest classroom accommodates 144 students and measures 185 m². Additionally, a department-specific library has been established within the faculty building. Our university provides sufficient facilities both within the faculty and across the campus for students to participate in extracurricular activities. The faculty cafeteria offers food and beverages for students during breaks, along with recreational and entertainment facilities. Within the university campus, there are also a dining hall, cafeteria, indoor tennis courts, a mosque, student dormitories, and private establishments in the dormitory area that support students’ nutrition, accommodation, and social interaction.
