English course aims to provide students with the basic language skills required at the beginner level.



1 He can communicate at a basic level by asking and answering simple questions.
2 Students can read and understand beginner-level English texts.
3 Students can write short texts about daily activities and e-mail giving information about themselves and/or their immediate surroundings.
4 Students can fill out forms with their personal information.
5 Students can follow basic expressions and dialogues about themselves, their families and people around themselves at A2* level in accordance with the European Union Language Criteria.

English courses are compulsory ones that are given in the second year in Turkish-medium programs and provide integrated basic language skills such as reading, writing, listening and speaking at the beginner level.

1 To be, subject pronouns, object pronouns, possessive adjectives. Lectures and exercises Students should review basic knowledge of subject pronouns, object pronouns, and possessive adjectives.
2 Possessive pronouns, members of the family, adjectives, a-an-the, cardinal numbers, ordinal numbers, have got, has got. Group work and presentations Students should practice possessive pronouns and family members vocabulary.
3 Days, months, seasons, telling the time and date, plural nouns, some, any, many, uncountable nouns / some, any, much. Visually supported lectures and discussions Students should read about days, months, seasons, and how to tell the time.
4 Vocabulary: countries and nationalities , this, that –these, those, introducing yourself /someone, vocabulary: buildings and facilities. Practical exercises and quiz activity Students should work on vocabulary related to countries and nationalities.
5 Prepositions of place, there is, there are, giving directions, reading: how can I get to the..? Lectures and practical direction-giving exercises Students should practice prepositions of place and giving directions.
6 Quantifiers: a bottle of milk, a piece of cake etc, how much, how many, everyday objects, reading text: my home. Group work and reading activities Students should practice quantifiers and everyday objects.
7 The modal verb : can can’t, the linking words: and, but, or, so, because, vocabulary: wild life, reading text: incredible animals. Lectures and reading activities Students should practice the modal verb "can" and linking words.
8 Review & exercises. Review and exercises Students should review previous topics and prepare additional exercises.
9 Vocabulary: movie types, too – enough, the imperative - let’s, why don’t we, how about, reading: best movies. Vocabulary and reading activities Students should work on vocabulary related to movie types.
10 Vocabulary: common verbs, present simple tense (positive/negative forms), present simple question form, how to make "yes/no – wh questions" ? Lectures and question form exercises Students should practice present simple tense in positive/negative forms.
11 Frequency adverbs and expressions, vocabulary: hobbies and free time activitiesi prepositions of time in on at, reading: my daily routine. Group work and reading activities Students should work on frequency adverbs and free time activities.
12 Present continuous tense (positive and negative forms), present continuous tense question form, vocabulary: clothes, reading: we are having a party! Present continuous exercises and reading activities Students should work on present continuous tense structures.
13 Present continuous or present simple, vocabulary: food and drinks, love, like, dislike, hate +Ving & would like, reading text: what is your favourite activity? Lectures and reading activities Students should work on vocabulary related to food and drinks.
14 Comparatives, superlatives, as…as, reading text: my hometown. Comparatives and reading activities Students should practice comparatives and superlatives.
